Phoenicia - circa 1200 years B.C.

A single ingredient -  labdanum concrète with its characteristic notes of smokey woods, amber, and dry fruit takes us back to the ancient land of Phoenicia (1200 BC), along the eastern shores of the Mediterranean.

The Phoenicians were not only one of the first civilizations to harvest dates, grapes and produce wine, they were also highly skilled navigators and craftsmen. They traded in precious metals, textiles, leather and exotic woods, and were the inventors of Tyrian purple – a rare pigment made from crushed seashells, subsequently used to dye the cloaks of Emperors.
